I have tried two fairly new IP9100A and a two year old IP9100B.
The results were the same on all of them
All were previously original software 2.39A.

Initially I flashed via the normal updater (after a fresh boot). It seemed to flash OK but the unit did not recover after reboot. Opened it up, attached serial port. Saw the following output at end of boot

Quote:
...
usb.c: registered new driver W99683
W99683.c: v1.00 for Linux 2.4 : W99683 USB Camera Driver
NET4: Linux TCP/IP 1.0 for NET4.0
IP Protocols: ICMP, UDP, TCP
IP: routing cache hash table of 512 buckets, 4Kbytes
TCP: Hash tables configured (established 512 bind 1024)
VFS: Mounted root (romfs filesystem) readonly.
Freeing init memory: 40K
Warning: unable to open an initial console.
Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!

So I recovered it back to 2.39A using serial (worked fine) and tried again updating via web UI. Same result as above.
So I tried flashing it to YOICS 2.47 from the serial port using xmodem.
Rebooted... Same "Kernel panic" as above.
Repeated this all again just to be sure... same result.
So I tried flashing it to YOICS 2.46 from serial.
That worked OK.
Tried 2.47 again... Kernel panic.
So I'm back on 2.46 again which seems to work OK.

Exactly same results on two different 9100A and on a 9100B. I just can't get 2.47 to work. What am I missing?

Thanks.

Despite IE8 claiming that the file to download is 1.2MB I always end up with a much shorter file on my HDD.
I've re-tried the download eseveral times and every time it starts OK but then after just a little way through it shoots to 100% and completes without picking up the rest of the file. I end up with a different amount each time 100KB ~ 140kB.

I'll try a different browser.
OK, Google Chrome 9 managed to pick it up just fine.
How strange. I'm not quite sure how this can happen.

Anyone else - make sure you have the full 1.2MB image file before you attempt to flash or you may brick your 9100 (but it can be recovered using the serial port).

we probably should zip the file with an md5 sum.

If we ever get back to this project we will
